Identify the
current facilities at the ports and harbours, the main users of the facilities,
and the problems that are faced by each.
Through questionnaires
and interviews with users of the marine environment we wish to identify the
types of vessels, the facilities within the vessels, how they currently manage
their various wastes and rubbish and their difficulties faced.
Quantification
of the amount and source of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste with
regard to the amount that is currently disposed of at sea, but could be recycled,
composted or treated.
Identification
of existing barriers to and reasons why this waste is currently disposed of
at sea, instead of being brought to shore and disposed of correctly.
Development of solutions
Develop and
design appropriate novel technical solutions.
Determine the
requirement for new facilities, receptacles or technical solutions. Cost the
options.
Prepare the
strategy for the Forth Estuary.
Prepare the
costings for the implementation of the strategy for the Forth Estuary.
Produce educational
packs identifying the problems and highlighting the solutions and the integrated
strategy.
