By the end of the 12 months we will have identified the problems and the solutions and prepared STRIFE. This will include the following:
- Production of a comprehensive report plus a leaflet describing the findings for general dissemination.
- Preparation of a working document for the implementation of STRIFE complete with costings for dissemination to potential users, port authorities and existing and potential funders. The purpose would be to encourage feedback, comments and suggestions before implementation of the strategy.
- Workshops will be held at various locations, following dissemination of results, which are open to everyone to encourage feedback and community participation.
Over the second and third years the strategy will be put into effect. The solutions identified will be implemented, first as pilot projects in one or a few key areas, then, in the third year, expanded to cover the whole estuary. At all stages the solutions will be observed and comments and suggestions sought from all those involved. Simultaneously, a publicity campaign will keep people in the Forth area informed of the project's aims, methods and progress, and encourage them to co-operate with it. The progress of the project will be measured through the reaction of Forth users to it, and , more importantly, by continued study of the levels of pollution in the Forth; this is, after all, the only meaningful measure of our project's success.
