It is proposed that the Forth Estuary Project will serve as a pilot project that may then be used as a model for other estuaries in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. This pilot project will consist of the implementation of STRIFE after its development in the first twelve months.

Based on the findings and success of the pilot project, a 'blueprint' plan will be developed that can, after appropriate modification for local conditions, be successfully implemented throughout Europe in partnership with local estuary groups.
